Food for Fines

Memorial Library is offering a unique way for students to pay their overdue library fines while helping people in need.

The Food for Fines program runs from Monday, December 2nd through Friday, December 13th. Students may pay their fines by donating non-perishable, unopened, unexpired food in cans, boxes and plastic jars. Those who do not have fines are welcome to donate food.

Students will receive $1 off their overdue fine balance for each item of food donated. Replacement costs for lost or damaged books are excluded from this program.

Donations will be accepted during business hours at The Help Center in Memorial Library. The food will be delivered to the SUNY Cortland Cupboard located at the Interfaith Center.

ONESearch Workshops

Memorial Library will host three workshops to demo our new Library Search interface, ONESearch. Librarians will provide a quick overview of the features, allowing time for hands-on practice.

College Archives Open House

College Archives Open House

Memorial Library will be hosting an Open House event for faculty, staff, students and the community to learn more about the College Archives and what we have to offer. Members of the College Archives Steering Committee will be discussing different projects and sharing their experiences with the collections.

Light refreshments will be served.

Search Student Newspapers from 1925-2017 through the College Archives

The SUNY Cortland College Archives recently digitized the Co-No Press (1925-1942) and the Dragon Chronicle (2013-2017). These two Cortland newspapers will add to the collection of other digitized newspaper already available to you which include the Hilltop Press (1942-1971), Press (1971-1990), and the Dragon Chronicle (1990-2013). Researchers may now search newspapers from 1925-2017 using keywords and dates. All of these newspapers freely exist on NYS Historic Newspapers and Digital Commons@Cortland. This recent digitization project was funded through the 2019 Digitization Grant awarded to Memorial Library from the South-Central Regional Library Council.

Sandwich Seminar on New Library Search Interface 10/2

Memorial Library will be hosting a Sandwich Seminar to demo our new Library Search interface, ONESearch.

The Sandwich Seminar will be held in the Hall of Fame Room at Park Center on October 2nd at 12:30 pm.

ONESearch (using Primo VE) was adopted by all of SUNY as our Library’s new discovery service. We will show some of the exciting new features of the ONESearch interface, including the improved ability to find items in the TMC and Course Reserves. We will also show how to mark items as favorites, filter your results, and request items from other libraries.

For do-it-yourself documentation about connecting to the secure WiFi network, downloading your free copy of Office 365, printing on campus, and more, please check out the Tech Help tab of myRedDragon.

Tip: When you are registering a new device to Cortland WiFi, you can name it whatever you like! You can visit mydevices.cortland.edu to see which devices you already have registered to Cortland WiFi.

You can also stop by The Help Center in the main lobby of the library for assistance.  Help is also available at 607-753-2500 and thehelpcenter@cortland.edu.

Digital NYT & WSJ: Faculty/Staff Must Renew Subscription

Many of you have been enjoying a Digital New York Times and/or Wall Street Journal Subscription.

Please remember that faculty and staff need to renew their digital subscriptions annually.  You can identify your expiration date by logging in to NYT or WSJ and looking at your account.
