Thamnobryum alleghaniense (Müll. Hal.) Nieuwl.
Thamnobryum alleghaniense is a dendroid moss which has sparsely spaced leaves or leaves lacking on their vertical stems. The moss generally grows vertically on rocks or logs and prefers moist habitats. The branches are clustered towards the apex of the stem. The leaves are lanceolate with a costa, and teeth near the apex area.
Compared to:
Climacium americanum– leaves generally with less defined teeth at the apex, leaves are also pleated and have lobes on each side of their base.
Climacium dendroides– Leaves are pleaded and branches are spread in various directions.
