Brotherella recurvans

Brotherella recurvans (Michx.) Fleisch.

Brotherella recurvans is found on decaying logs in shaded areas, however, it will grow on soil. The leaves are falcate and lacking a costa. The moss has a very distinct look, the branches look like braided rope. The tips of the branches are frequently shiny, this appearance is caused by the folded leaves at the tips. The capsules are slightly curved, cylindrical, and have a conical lid.
