Platygyrium repens

Platygyrium repens (Brid.) Schimp.

Platygyrium repens is found on the bases of trees and sometimes on decaying logs. The stems grow out spreading across the substrate while the majority of branches grow upwards. The moss often has a patch of darker brown near the middle (Image 3). Many of the branches at the apex have brood branches that are clustered together (Image 4). The leaves are wide at the base with a slender acuminating apex.
