Rhizomnium punctatum

Rhizomnium punctatum (Hedw.) T. Kop.

Rhizomnium punctatum prefers to grow in wetter areas, typically in the gorge on damp to wet rocks as well as other substrates, but not submerged. The stem grows vertically and is red, with a hairy base.  leaves are translucent with a noticeable costa and border around the margins. The margins are smooth and the leaf may end in a single tooth. When leaves are wet they are elliptical to ovate, when dry they become contorted.
