Platyhypnidium riparioides, (Hedw.) Dix
Platyhypnidium riparioides prefers very wet habitats, including flowing water. Generally it is soaked when collected and can often be found in or around the streams. The moss is irregularly branched, with leaves spreading slightly when wet appearing julaceous. When dry, the leaves are held closer to the branches, making the moss branches appear as tiny rope like structures. leaves are generally ovate and light green when dry.
Compared to:
Amblystegium varium: Generally not found in flowing water and leaves are more spaced apart and spread farther from the stem when wet.
