Fissidens fontanus is an aquatic moss that can be found throughout the gorge under flowing water. It is often found in small dense clumps. The leaves are lanceolate with a noticeable costa and small pocket-like structure on one side of the costa.
According to the NYSDEC, New York Rare Moss Status list 2008 this moss isĀ ranked as an S2.
