Orthotrichum sordidum Sull. & Lesq.
Orthotrichum sordidum grows in small tufts of vertical stems on trees of hardwoods. When dry the leaves fold up against the stem and upon wetting they expand outwards.
The capsules are immersed within the upper part of the moss. The capsules also contain small hairs around them. Upon maturing the capsules have 8 ribs/teeth similar to Ulota crispa.
