Fissidens taxifolius Hedw.
Fissidens taxifolius is a smaller Fissidens species, which can be found on damp soil and rocks in shaded areas. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate with costas which protrude at the apex of the leaf forming a tooth. There is no noticeable thickened boarder on the margin of the leaves.
Compared to:
Fissidens fontanus– Aquatic, pleurocarpous moss, can be found submerged in the gorge.
Fissidens bryoides– Mid-rib ends just below the leaf tip and has elongated border cells
