Bartramia pomiformis Hedw.
Bartramia pomiformis can be found growing in small carpets on rock shelves in the gorge. Although it is more common to find it growing on rocks it may grow on soil as well. When dry the leaves curl up, and when wet they fan out and become straight. The leaves resemble small needles in shape.
The capsules have an iconic look to them. They are spherical with ribs running length wise and look like mini pumpkins.
The leaves on the margins are actually double tooth which is noticeable under high enough magnification.
