The highlight of the autograph book is the collection of signatures that it contains. Out of the 25 signatures, many of which are of lesser known individuals, lost to the annals of history. But one signature stands out amongst the rest, the signature of American artist, inventor, and professor, Samuel Morse.

Known primarily for his invention of the electromagnetic telegraph and the development of Morse code to transmit messages over it, Morse settled in New York in the 1820s, a little over 40 years before the signing of the book. Morse signed the book from Poughkeepsie, the same area where his summer estate was located, the Locust Grove estate.
