Taking Advantage of Virtual Study Sessions
Step # 1 Find your study place – Find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted by roommates, friends, and extraverted strangers. If you need to leave your dorm room, do so!
Step #2 Silence your phone – If you need to check for messages and or social media updates, take a quick break. Then when you return to studying, turn everything back off. If you have a real problem resisting temptation, leave your cell phone in your room and go study somewhere else.
Step #3 Pre-study Goal Setting – List up to four goals for this session. Your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, and relevant. At first, you may find yourself underestimating how much time it takes to accomplish each goal. That’s okay because you will improve over time! The better you are at estimating how long it takes t study, the more effective you will be at time management.
Step #4 Study – Start studying! Study for as long as you need to (recommended no more than 2 hours per session).
Step #5 Complete the Post-Study Self-Evaluation – When you are done studying, complete the post-study review to see how many of your goals you’ve accomplished.
