74th Annual Cortland Recreation Conference

We are excited to announce that the 74th Cortland Recreation Conference will be held November 7th and 8th, 2024.

This year’s theme is “Contemplating Change”.

In response to a simple two word prompt (Change is…) Chat GPT was able to generate the following statement:

“Change is the ever-present force that shapes our lives, propelling us forward into new experiences, perspectives, and opportunities. It’s the constant flux of existence, the catalyst for growth, adaptation, and transformation. Change can be exhilarating, daunting, or even uncomfortable, but it’s an essential part of the human journey. It challenges us to embrace the unknown, to evolve, and to discover the depths of our resilience and creativity. In essence, change is the canvas upon which the story of our lives unfolds, painting a portrait of endless possibility and potential”.

Within this statement, change is outlined as being spiritual, behavioral, physical, and emotional. Change is described as being an ever-present challenge, that helps us to grow and improve. Yet, given this constant presence of change in our lives, we do not always embrace change.

Accordingly, this year’s conference seeks to explore the concept of change as it relates to our profession. We would like to consider the opportunities change can create as well as some of the challenges. We would like to hear about how our fellow professionals are advocating for change, creating change within their own work, and/or shaping change to better meet the needs of those they serve.

Our team will start work on the conference program in August and aim to open registration October 1st.

The 74th Annual Cortland Recreation Conference Planning Committee
