Districts Celebrate New Master Teachers
Having one of your teachers accepted into the NYS Master Teacher Program is a source of pride for school districts. Two new Central New York Master Teachers were celebrated in the news.

Cazenovia High School computer science and technology teacher, Thuc Phan, was profiled in the Cazenovia Republican. “The district is incredibly proud of Mr. Phan and appreciative of his many contributions both in and out of the classroom,” said Superintendent Matthew Reilly.

Hannibal High School teacher, Lisa Mason, teaches living environment, consumer chemistry, AP environmental science and related labs. Oswego County Today included a profile of Ms. Mason, highlighting her acceptance into the program. “This program gives me a great network of colleagues to share ideas with and participate in additional professional development opportunities,” says Mason.
Helfant Awarded Oneida Foundation Grant

New York State Master Teacher, Astrid Helfant, was recently awarded a second Oneida Foundation Grant. She was inspired to apply for the grant after a Master Teacher workshop on developing and using models in Science. She will use the grant funding to purchase several model kits that will be used by the Oneida High School Science Department, particularly for the chemistry and biology classes.
