Brooklyn-born Neil Leslie Diamond became one of the biggest selling and touring artists of the 20th Century. Beginning his career as a staff songwriter at the famous Brill Building in the early 1960s along with fellow Brooklynites Carole King and Gerry Goffin, Neil’s songs were originally successful for other artists. For Monkees fans, “I’m A Believer” “Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow” and “A little Bit Me, A Little Bit You” were all written by Neil Diamond.
From rock to folk to blues and country, Tin Pan Alley and Top 40, the prolific Neil Diamond has written the soundtrack of America. Inducted by Paul Simon into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Paul said: “He was known as the Jewish Elvis Presley. In fact, in many synagogues across the country Elvis was considered a bogus Neil Diamond!” In 2022, Universal Music Publishing Group purchased the Neil Diamond catalog and in 2023 “A Beautiful Noise” came to Broadway and tells the story of Neil Diamond’s life, through music.
