Considered a “one hit wonder,” King Harvest was a French American band formed in Ithaca, NY in 1969 where band members were attending Cornell University. They broke up in 1971 and one by one, band members migrated to Paris where they reformed. Once in Paris and performing as a fairly successful American cover band, they decided to record “Dancing In The Moonlight,” a song that had been kicking around the guys for a few years. With no money, they used what they could…the lead singer sang in the stairwell which had a natural echo chamber, and the percussion was the result of using a toilet brush instead of drumsticks. Their unique recording paid off and their one and only song was a hit! They got an upstate NY welcome home reception in the Corey Function Room opening for Jay Leno.
