Aerosmith

The “Bad Boys of Boston” were formed in 1970 and became one of the most influential American Rock Bands in history rooted in pop, rock, heavy metal, glam and R&B. Their January 1973 self-titled album was dead on arrival as their label, Columbia Records was far more invested in Bruce Springsteen’s “Greetings From Asbury Park.”  So Aerosmith hit the road with a vengeance and played a combination of standard music venues and college campuses, which brought them to Old Main. Ironically, they played “Dream On” from their debut album, but it actually took 2 more years for the song to break the Top 40 as a reissue eventually becoming one of their biggest hits.  The Old Main Gym was never the same after lead singer, Steven Tyler, the “Demon of Screamin;” stomped and yelled all over the stage while lead guitarist Joe Perry tore up their songs with his hard rocking playing.
