With studying long hours and packing for break, this period can get quite stressful for college students, so the break is a crucial time to recollect ourselves. Whether you’re going away on vacation or just staying in the comfort of your own home, here are some ideas that you can do to relax and prepare for the rest of the semester.

Catch Up on Schoolwork

In order to have a stress-free break, it’s important to get all of the work you’ve been putting off done before break starts. I personally cannot relax until I get everything done, and if you can relate, I’d suggest finishing your last few assignments to have a clean slate going into break. You don’t want to have to worry about your workload during your vacation, so having nothing to do going into it would make your time of relaxation much more enjoyable. There truly is nothing better than knowing you have no work for the week, and I’m sure if you take the time now to get everything done, your future self will thank you.

Connect with Friends and Family

Although everyone needs some alone time during a week off, you should still make time to spend with family or friends. Whether it’s someone you see every day or someone you haven’t talked to in a while, it’s always good to reconnect with your loved ones. I know that with all of my friends at different colleges, it’s hard to fit into our busy schedules a time to catch up on each other’s lives. However, spring break is the perfect opportunity to check in. Everyone could use a good laugh with their friends or even a serious conversation about what’s happening in their lives. So, reach out and make the plans to reminisce on old memories and make new ones!

Take Up Hobbies

With so much work during the semester, I can never find time to unwind and do something I actually want to do. However, taking the time to unwind from the overwhelming amount of work would be beneficial. Spring break is a great chance to catch up on old hobbies or try some new ones to relax and have fun. If you need some ideas, my favorite hobbies are watching movies, baking, and doing crossword puzzles. One new hobby that I haven’t done in quite some time, though, is reading, which I want to start up again over break. So, do the things you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t had the time for because you will feel fulfilled and productive while doing something you enjoy. Life can get boring when it’s filled with just work, so making time for yourself will give you a much-needed break.

Get Some Rest

Breaks are truly the best opportunity to catch up on sleep that you’ve lost during the busy semester. Although you may want to go out and have fun to not waste your week off, it’s also important to prioritize getting enough hours of sleep. You may feel unproductive, but when you’re constantly busy with classes, you deserve to have a break. We should all make it a priority to get as much rest as we need to finish the semester strong, whether that rest is in bed, in the sun, or lounging in front to the television.

Resetting over this spring break will be crucial in ending the school year on the right note. So, heading into our week off, we should all try our best to relax while also staying on track. Consider new ways to unwind, stay busy, and have fun with friends and family while you actually have the time to do so. Remember to also prioritize yourself during this crucial time of rest and not overwhelm yourself more than you already are during the semester. Just take it easy, stay safe, and enjoy your time off!

Even though it may feel like this semester just started, midterms and spring break are approaching fast.
