This is their second release since debuting last year, and they did not fall short with the quality. Completely separate from their other title track, \u201cTouch\u201d, &#8220;Gnarly&#8221; is tough, aggressive, and hardcore. After my first listen, I wasn\u2019t impressed. The music video is incredible with a maximalist theme. It\u2019s overwhelming, overstimulating, but so well done. It\u2019s an acquired taste, but it\u2019s definitely worth the listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"KATSEYE (\ucea3\uce20\uc544\uc774) &quot;Gnarly&quot; Official MV\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R2-yomhYAj4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">2. <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/55hTqqpz8k2TNRLhHKbbDx?si=56556bddff704b95\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gabriela<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Completely different from &#8220;Gnarly&#8221;, &#8220;Gabriela&#8221; is a Latin inspired song with an R&amp;B vibe. The Spanish guitar in the instrumental is incredible. There\u2019s some string-plucking throughout the song which still gives it that classic KATSEYE pop sound. I thought the music video was very creative, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DLki8ruRLyM\/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&amp;igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daniela said<\/a> it \u201cpays homage to Latin culture and telenovelas\u201d. It was in the style of a telenovela, with a 4:3 aspect ratio, burned-in subtitles, and slightly grainy filter. I love when music videos are creative in this way and not just a performance video in disguise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2028\u2028I loved the classic chorus distribution with Yoonchae and Manon. Daniela got to sing the bridge in Spanish which I thought was really well done. The only downside is that makes it a bit harder to sing along to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"KATSEYE (\ucea3\uce20\uc544\uc774) &quot;Gabriela&quot; Official MV\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CjnB56tSCQI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">3. <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/2f1WulnyiYYnseSQWI8Oi9?si=e233b2366e4c4521\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gameboy<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Gameboy&#8221; has to be one of KATSEYE\u2019s best b-side tracks to date. It\u2019s a cute pop song with a retro video game inspired theme. The instrumental has some 8-bit elements too which really complement the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2028\u2028I especially love the line distribution here. Manon and Daniela sing the verses and prechorus, while the other four members sing the chorus. It\u2019s divided into four parts, and it\u2019s very catchy. I was so excited to hear and see Megan front and center with the chorus. They\u2019re still a relatively new group, so it\u2019s not like Megan is being pushed back. It\u2019s mostly about spreading positivity, and choosing to forgive your bullies. It\u2019s also about not being a \u201cmean girl\u201d yourself and trying to be kind. It\u2019s a classic pop style song, but definitely has an emotional tinge to it. It\u2019s not my favorite track on the album, but it\u2019s not bad. I think it has a great message nonetheless.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">5. <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/4vyQ2NdodXhtMGsaaMBqSt?si=1c1e06bdc5d844a2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M.I.A.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;M.I.A.&#8221; is another bold song on the album. It\u2019s about having confidence and freedom, and being unpredictable. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DLvDopARaeX\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Megan said<\/a> it keeps people on their toes, because \u201cany minute now [they] might go M.I.A.\u201d. It has a dark and intense atmosphere that stands out from their other songs.
