The Atlanta rapper doesn’t care about playing it safe, and that’s what makes this project so exciting. While the whole album is packed with 30 songs plus a deluxe album, three tracks stand out as clear favorites to me: “Trim,” “Evil Jordan,” and “I Rather Lie.” These songs prove why Carti is still one of the most unique voices in the genre.

“Trim” featuring Future, is the kind of track that gets stuck in your head after one listen thanks to the guest’s deep voice. The beat is simple but hard-hitting, with Carti’s signature ad-libs and repetitive flows making it instantly addictive. It’s not a lyrical masterpiece, but that’s not the point – Carti turns simplicity into something hypnotic, and it works perfectly. Future’s parts also make the track one of the best if not the best on the album.

Then there’s “Evil Jordan,” which takes the energy to another level thanks to Carti’s great solo performance. The beat is aggressive, with sharp synths and bass that feel like they’re trying to knock your speakers out. Carti’s delivery is wild, switching between his deep, growling voice and his high-pitched baby voice like it’s nothing. This is the song that’ll have crowds losing their minds at concerts, and it’s easily one of the hardest tracks on the album.

“I Rather Lie” with The Weekend shows a different side of Carti. The production is smoother, with a dreamy, floating beat that lets his Auto-Tuned vocals shine. It’s still got that Carti edge, but it’s more melodic and laid-back compared to the rest of the album. This track proves he can switch up his style without losing what makes him special and has the same quality as the world-known Canadian artist Abel.

Of course, Playboy Carti’s album isn’t flawless. Some songs blend together, and not every experiment lands perfectly, some songs just don’t feel complete. But when Carti is at his best, like on these three tracks – he’s untouchable. His sound is so different from everyone else’s, and that’s what keeps fans coming back.

At the end of the day, I AM MUSIC is another win for Carti. It’s chaotic, unpredictable, and full of moments that just hit different. “Trim,” “Evil Jordan,” and “I Rather Lie” are the highlights, but the whole project is worth a listen if you’re into high-energy rap that doesn’t follow the rules. Love him or hate him, Carti is doing his own thing – and nobody will do it better.

Playboi Carti’s latest album, I AM MUSIC, is exactly what you’d expect from him – loud, chaotic, and impossible to ignore.
