Not only did Kep1er renew its contract avoiding disbandment, but they&#8217;ve just released their third album of the year. Following <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/1z66tzLXZ5nI9EsJ79xSez?si=DHd-XEIPSWePeryJomMeBA\">Kep1going On<\/a><\/em> in June, this is their first release as a seven member group, with Mashiro and Yeseo having left. It\u2019s also their first release under a new management with KLAP Entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: TIPI-TAP\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/1oHK6dDixDIjnMB03DIeZM?si=MVe9ExCsTsOvbfhsekklTA&amp;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\"><strong>1) &#8220;sync-love&#8221;<\/strong><br><br>The first track on the album is <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/5fsToVimkWNAPrwNiHQzvi?si=ba2a63ab4d8745a1\">\u201csync-love\u201d<\/a>. I absolutely love this song. It feels like I went to the future and I&#8217;m in the matrix. I loved the chrome outfits in this one live performance, it kind if gives SpongeBob vibes from when Squidward went to the future, and I&#8217;m here for it. Hikaru\u2019s voice makes the song what it is. I\u2019m definitely biased, but I feel like Kep1er always makes these concepts unique and not like something we\u2019ve already seen. As their choreographed b-side, the choreography makes the song all the more iconic. The first line of the chorus, \u201cMatrix mode on,\u201d really hits hard. In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_MSesN7vXS4\">choreography demo<\/a>, they had an arm movement that made what looked like ones and zeros. They even posted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@official_kep1er\/video\/7423025318987844872?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7408418581077198367\">TikTok challenges<\/a> shortly after. I waited until the official release to hear it, which made scrolling through YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels very risky. But my patience did pay off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\"><strong>2) &#8220;Tipi-tap&#8221;<\/strong><br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0SCHvh0ZqVd2Wcq2l4kzai?si=77a5e90bc6534da6\">&#8220;TIPI-TAP&#8221;<\/a> is up there with their best title tracks. It\u2019s a very cute hyper-pop song. Unlike their other songs, the chorus is very upfront and direct. Music videos and choreography can make any song better, but this song didn&#8217;t even need it. It&#8217;s really well done. The whole aesthetic is so fitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kep1er \ucf00\ud50c\ub7ec | &#039;TIPI-TAP&#039; M\/V\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gXCCiVqI_VQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Music video for title track &#8220;TIPI-TAP&#8221;<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After a couple weeks of listening, I started to feel like the transition from the pre-chorus to the chorus sounds a little harsh and dissonant. But at the same time I think it works perfectly. I also love the choreography, it\u2019s very <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@official_kep1er\/video\/7436382557324725511?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7408418581077198367\">TikTok challenge<\/a> worthy. I\u2019m so happy Xiaoting and Huening Bahiyyih got to sing parts of the main chorus. As one of the main \u201cvisuals\u201d of the group, Xiaoting hasn\u2019t gotten many chorus lines in the title tracks, not counting adlibs or onomatopoeia. This track has such an atmosphere to it. With the track order being fixed, I\u2019ve noticed that the songs that come right after the title track tend to be more skippable. I immediately think of <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0ICgVDEplakH6MI7ZNj1wG?si=ee85fa26f73b4e48\">&#8220;Curious&#8221;<\/a> that followed <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/0k2JbfyqtVhiLqGgNuwQGX?si=bd979a1788c34d13\">&#8220;Shooting Star&#8221;<\/a> on their last album. These songs tend to be pretty up beat too, not sure if that\u2019s related. I think the title track just has such a big presence that any following song will have less of an impact. Even so, &#8220;Drip&#8221; is not that bad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p><strong>4) &#8220;Bitter Taste&#8221;<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/4UfwjfLBrOHwsCeKDDbOvt?si=a28df1acc4324d62\">&#8220;Bitter Taste&#8221; <\/a>is such a good song I that didn\u2019t expect to like. It has a bit of an R&amp;B vibe that really fits the album. There were some pre-chourus parts that Yujin, Xiaoting, and Chaehyun sing that were so heavenly and worked so well. I think Bahiyyih\u2019s voice really suits the song in the chorus. Her English is arguably the best of the group. Her strong diction and pronunciation really add something to this song. It has such a grounding vibe that showcases all their voices very well. Fall releases almost never fall short in k-pop, including this one.
