The Cortland Red Dragon\u2019s baseball team has had an impressive last few weeks, winning 8 out of their last 9 games that includes 6 consecutive games in a row. This much needed streak comes after a tough skid earlier in the month of March, where the Red Dragons got swept in their season series against California Lutheran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nonetheless, the Red Dragons have looked their best this season throughout this winning streak, outscoring their opponents 49 to 16 over the last 6 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The streak started on March 25 at Oneonta where the two Red Dragon rivals squared off to start their 3-game series. They played a double header that day, with the first game being a relatively close one 4-1, but Oneonta didn\u2019t stand a chance in the second game of the day, as Cortland dominated them 18-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The very next day was the best game out of the 3-game series, as Cortland won in a close one 6-5. Starting pitcher Will McCarthy did what he needed to do that day, pitching 6 full innings, giving up only 3 hits, and no earned runs. The relief pitchers for Cortland couldn\u2019t get a groove, as they gave up 4 out of the 5 runs, but Greg Mays came in for the save and secured the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cortland Red Dragons returned to Robert H. Wallace field for a 3-game series against division rival Plattsburgh last Friday, and kept their foot on the gas. The Red Dragons won on Friday 6-3, while the following day was a double header with Cortland winning 12-1 in only 7 innings and shutting out the Cardinals in the final game of the series 3-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Red Dragons will have to keep this same energy for their next opponent, the Brockport Golden Eagles, who have an impressive record on the year at 13-4. While the Red Dragons are on a 6 game winning streak, the Golden Eagles are on a winning streak of their own, also winning 8 out of their last 9 games and are on a 4 game win streak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
