Their new album, “Killin’ It,” shares many similarities with that album regarding style, but “Killin’ It” retains what made that album great but adds to it to make it stand out on its own.

If I’m going to be completely honest, when I first started to listen to this album, I got worried that the entire album was going to sound too similar to their previous EP’s. You can definitely draw similarities especially during the first 2-3 songs, but as the album goes on, you get a better sense of the journey that the album, as a whole, is taking us on.

With that out of the way, let’s get to some of the songs that really stood out and left a mark. I have to start with the title track, “Killin’ It.” Earlier I said that the first couple of songs feel a little too similar to some of their previous EP’s, but that’s not really a criticism. “Killin’ It,” for example, is similar in style, but it’s still an absolute bop to listen to. Besides a pretty weird, but awesome music video (that you can watch here), “Killin’ It” sets the energy for the rest of the album and immediately gets you hooked.

One of my personal favorites on the album is “Everybody Clap.” I could criticize this song for feeling too “cheesy” or too “dated,” but 1: who am I to criticize any song on this album, and 2: this song is just so much fun I don’t care. The style of this song does feel like something that would’ve been released in the 2010’s, but that’s part of the reason why I love it. The nostalgic feeling is what makes this song so fun.

The album slows down a bit when we get to “Love Story,” and despite Taylor Swift not anywhere to be seen in this song, the slower pace is exactly what this album needed. “Love Story” allows us to catch our breath after the first three tracks, but other than that, it’s just such a nice and calming song to listen to, that just might be my favorite song in the album.

The album immediately picks back up again with “Countdown To Love,” which features electrifying energy and a catchy melody. I don’t say that as a criticism either. I’m glad that they changed up the style in the last song to a more R&B style beat because it just adds more contrast to the rest of the album which was mainly just upbeat pop.

“Killin’ It is such a fun album, despite some of my worries at the beginning.
