But recently\u201a it honestly feels like people are starting to care about movie theaters again\u2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Part of it is because movies are finally starting to feel exciting even before they come out\u2024 Social media plays a big role in that\u2024 There are trailers\u201a edits\u201a casting rumors and audience reactions so rapid-fire on the internet that make the audience so excited before it hits theaters\u2024 This spring and summer, movies like Spider-Man: Brand New Day\u201a The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Toy Story 5 and The Odyssey are already gaining traction\u2024 Even if you’re not a big movie person\u201a you’ll find out what’s coming out because it somehow ends up all over TikTok and Instagram anyway\u2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
People are realizing that going to the movies is a fun and memorable way of getting out the house\u2024 It’s easy to stay home and watch something\u201a but it never really feels the same as watching it in a movie theater\u2024 I feel like when you watch movies at home\u201a people pause all the time\u201a look at their phones\u201a get distracted\u201a and stop watching halfway through\u2024 But when you actually make the effort to go see the movie, you kind of have no choice but to sit there focused. It looks better and sounds better, which honestly makes movies feel bigger and more entertaining\u2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Watching a movie in a packed theater and hearing someone laugh at the same bits you do\u201a or jump at the same scares\u201a or clap at the end credits just makes even a boring movie so much more fun\u2024 You can either stay in or you can go somewhere that might be a fun memory to look back on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s like people are making movie premieres big events again\u2024 They’re dressing up for releases\u201a planning around opening weekend\u201a and avoiding spoilers like their lives depend on it\u2024 The theaters are busy again in a way they haven’t been for a few years\u2024 Movies are becoming something to look forward to\u201a not just something to watch in the background\u2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nostalgia is definitely part of it too\u2024 A lot of the biggest movies coming out right now are connected to franchises people grew up with\u2024 People complain about sequels and remakes\u201a but there is something comforting about seeing a film from your childhood knowing that characters and stories you already know and love are coming back to theaters again\u2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I also think people are just tired of doing everything at home\u2024 So much of life already happens through screens that going out and doing something simple feels more exciting than it used to\u2024 Even a simple trip to get popcorn and sit in a dark theater for two hours\u2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n
