The Cortland mens lacrosse club has been on a roll to start the 2026 spring season. The team is pushing to make this season a perfect season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club is currently 5-0 and is looking to continue their success throughout the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noah Rojas, the team’s president has been impressed with how the team is performing so far in this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe team\u2019s been doing really well overall. Everyone has been putting in the work to make this our best season yet\u201d Rojas said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team had a very impressive first win of the season. They beat the number one team in the NCLL Division one, the Binghamton Bearcats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Binghamton was the only team who handed Cortland a loss last fall season. Going into this spring season, they were the number one team in the Division. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club lacrosse team had a lot to play in their first game of the year. To start the season off strong, to play for the same success they reached the previous year and to get their pay back on a team who bested them in the previous season. The Binghamton Bearcats are the ones who stood in their way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On March 6, Cortland traveled to Binghamton to take on the Bearcats. The game was intense, close, and came down to the wire. At the end of regulation, the score was tied 10-10, and they headed into overtime. The game ended when midfielder Joey Brodbeck scored the game winning goal to push Cortland to 1-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After putting up four goals in the game against Binghamton, Jayden Mandarano won NCLL player of the week and claimed his spot as the top goal scorer for the club so far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI owe it to all my teammates and coaches for putting me into a position to succeed.\u201d Mandarano said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a 1-0 start the club had little time to rest before their next two games, which was only two days after March 8. A double header against Niagara and SUNY Oswego. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lack of rest and recovery did not affect the club in doing what they needed to get done. They took care of Niagara 7-3, and Oswego 8-6. They moved on to start their season 3-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chris Macaluso serves as the clubs coach during game day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo far the team has been off to a hot start,\u201d Macaluso said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club had time to rest after their 3-0 start, their next two games took place on March 28 in Long Island. The two teams they faced were Quinnipiac and Stony Brook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They made the long drive to continue their winning streak down to Long Island. Their first game of the weekend was against Quinnipiac and won with a final score of 6-5. Their second game of the weekend was against Stony Brook where they won 6-3. Moving to 5-0 to start their season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are four remaining games left for the lacrosse club this spring. An away game at Maryland on April 11 and a home game against St. Bonaventure on April 18.
