Swae Lee’s SUNY Cortland Redemption

Lauren Millspaugh · April 20, 2026

On April 10, Cortland SAB announced that the artist for Spring Fling 2026 would be Swae Lee featuring SoFaygo. Swae Lee is best known for his songs “Sunflower” with Post Malone, “Black Beatles” with Slim Jxmmi, his brother, as part of the duo Rae Sremmurd, and his features on “Unforgettable” by French Montana and “Nightcrawler” by Travis Scott. SoFaygo is best known for his song Knock Knock.

The same day Swae Lee was announced as the performer for Spring Fling 2026, he performed at night one of Coachella with Jhené Aiko, NAV, and Rich the Kid. Swae Lee performed Sativa and MURAL with Jhené Aiko. Performed Calling, NO CALL NO SHOW, and Lemonade with NAV. As well as performing DON’T EVEN CALL with Rich the Kid. Swae Lee’s performance had a lot to offer for night one; however, fans were disappointed with the cut off of one of his most famous hits Black Beatles. Swae Lee and fans took to social media and vocalized their disappointment. Swae Lee posted, “They cut Black Beatles – I’m just as mad y’all week two we rocking out !!!!!” Swae Lee had apologized to fans who were disappointed with the cutoff, but then made a promise to make next week’s performance even better. Which obviously means SUNY Cortland is going to get its best performance yet.

As Swae Lee has been seen to perform at Coachella, many students have been more inclined to attend. Various students on YikYak were disappointed with the announcement for Spring Fling, but right when he performed at Coachella, the script flipped, and everyone is now intrigued to see what the hype is about. For weeks, Cortland SAB promoted a beach theme and dropped some interesting teasers. Many of the students immediately assumed that the performer was going to be Zara Larsson because of her beach persona and bright colors associated with her. A junior communications major at SUNY Cortland, Amelie Ducrot said, “The SAB beach teaser posts totally had me thinking it was Zara Larsson. Although I don’t listen to Swae Lee, I’m sure it’ll be a great show.” Even I was convinced that the performer was going to be Zara Larsson based on the teasers from Cortland SAB’s Instagram. A sophomore biomedical sciences major, Reese Chudoba, said, “I had my suspicions it was going to be someone else, so at first I was confused. Then I was thinking about how Swae Lee just performed at Coachella, which is impressive; he’s coming here next.” Many of the students here seem to be unfamiliar with Swae Lee and his music; they seem to know Swae Lee as more of a feature rather than his own songs. The students are intrigued to see what the hype is about and experience another great Spring Fling.

Hopefully, with his performance at the Spring Fling 2026, he can redeem his missed Black Beatles performance and showcase himself as more than just a feature, but as the main star. Go get your tickets now and experience Swae Lee and SoFaygo on May 1 at the Park Center Alumni Arena.
