5 Simple, But Creative Easter Baking Ideas

Gabriella Dietz · April 6, 2026

If you’re looking for some easy Easter dessert recipes to bring to your Easter gathering, I’ve got you covered. From chocolatey to fruity treats, I’ve made a list of five homemade baked goods that are surprisingly simple to make. So, put on your apron, gather your ingredients, and go to work creating these family-friendly Easter recipes.

1. Banana Pudding Truffles

Banana pudding is a classic dessert known for its smooth, creamy texture and sweet flavor. This recipe turns that beloved treat into bite-sized truffles that are perfect for gatherings, like Easter. The truffles are just as adorable as they are delicious, with the pastel chocolate coating and sprinkles on top; everyone in the family will enjoy them. Even better, these truffles require no baking time, so they are extremely quick and easy, especially if you are in a time crunch. Now, because these truffles are so simple to make, the whole family can have fun making them, as kids will enjoy rolling them into balls and covering them with sprinkles.

Ingredients:

Filling:

  • 2 cups crushed vanilla wafers
  • ½ cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 package banana pudding mix (3.4 oz, dry)
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating:

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips/candy melts
  • Food coloring (pastel colors: pink, yellow, green, purple, or blue)

Decoration:

  • Crushed vanilla wafers
  • Easter sprinkles
  • Drizzles of chocolate

Instructions:

  1. Mix vanilla wafers, cream cheese, banana pudding mix, milk, and vanilla extract until forms a doughy texture
  2. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls
  3. Place truffles on parchment-lined baking sheet
  4. Refrigerate for 30-45 minutes
  5. Melt white chocolate in 30-second intervals in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth
  6. If using different colors, divide chocolate into separate bowls and add food coloring
  7. Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate
  8. Place coated truffles back on parchment
  9. While the chocolate is still melty, sprinkle crushed vanilla wafers and/or Easter sprinkles on top
  10. Drizzle different pastel- colored chocolate over the truffles
  11. Let them set at room temperature or refrigerate them for 15-30 minutes
  12. Serve and enjoy!

2. Carrot Patch Cupcakes

These cupcakes combine two treats that are already tasty on their own into a festive and cute dessert. Delicious chocolate-covered strawberries and rich chocolate cupcakes come together for these carrot patch cupcakes that are perfect for Easter. The strawberries are effective in resembling carrots that you’d pick right from the ground, which is a fun addition for kids to interact with. To make this dessert even easier, this recipe uses boxed cake mix with a twist to elevate it and make it taste homemade. With just minimal effort and ingredients, you could have these cupcakes ready in no time for your upcoming Easter party.

Ingredients:

Cupcakes:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup milk (instead of water)
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (melted, instead of oil)
  • 4 eggs (instead of 3)
  • 1 package chocolate pudding mix

Frosting:

  • 1 canned chocolate buttercream frosting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar (as needed)

Decoration:

  • ½ cup oreos (finely crushed)
  • 12 strawberries
  • 1 cup white chocolate (melted)
  • Orange food coloring

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line pan for 12 cupcakes with cupcake liners
  2. Make cupcakes according to box instructions
  3. Bake according to box
  4. Beat canned frosting, vanilla extract, and powder sugar until fluffy
  5. If buttercream is too thick, add in milk sparingly until smooths out
  6. Wash and dry strawberries
  7. Melt white chocolate in microwave-safe bowl
  8. Add food coloring
  9. Dip each strawberry into chocolate and lay on parchment-lined tray
  10. Drizzle over any leftover chocolate
  11. Set in fridge for 15-30 minutes
  12. After cupcakes cool completely, pipe buttercream around rim and press into crushed oreos
  13. Add chocolate covered strawberry to middle of each cupcake and enjoy!

3. Cadbury Egg Dip

Every good gathering needs some type of dip, and this one is perfect for Easter. I mean, who doesn’t love Cadbury eggs during the spring season, and I’m sure they’ll like them even more when turned into a smooth, creamy dip. It is quick and easy to make but still looks so stunning as an appetizer or dessert on your Easter table. With the sweet chocolate egg flavor combined with the cream cheese base, this dip is delicious for both kids and adults to enjoy. You can serve it with salty items, like graham crackers, pretzels, and chips; baked goods, like cookies and graham crackers; or even fresh fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping
  • 2 (9 oz) bags Cadbury Mini Eggs
  • Any treat for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Mix cream cheese, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth
  2. Beat in powdered sugar
  3. Fold in whipped topping
  4. Crush up 1 and a half bags of mini eggs
  5. Stir in crushed eggs to mixture
  6. Crush some of remaining eggs to put on top and use rest of the whole eggs to decorate top of dip
  7. Serve with treat of choice

4. Carrot Cake

Although carrot cake might seem like a basic dessert for Easter, this recipe is made in a convenient and creative way. You start with a simple box cake mix, but use my personal elevated version, and add the delicious carrot flavor within a few easy steps to make a homemade-ish dessert that everyone will love. I’ve never tried carrot cake before, but I think I’ll need to make and try it now that I’ve seen this one. Carrot cake is such a staple Easter dessert that you can’t go wrong with, so you won’t have to worry when bringing this comforting treat to your next gathering.

Ingredients:

Cake:

  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans

Frosting:

  • 1 can cream cheese frosting
  • 6 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

Decoration:

  • Easter sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Mix cake mix, eggs, butter, milk, sour cream, and cinnamon
  3. Fold in carrots (optional: and pecans)
  4. Pour mixture in greased 9×13 pan
  5. Bake for 25-35 minutes and let cool completely
  6. Beat cream cheese frosting, cream cheese, and brown sugar until smooth
  7. Spread frosting over cake then top with Easter sprinkles and dig in!

5. Easter Bunny Pretzel Kisses

I make a version of these easy treats for every holiday, and my family always asks me to make more of them for the next gathering. They are so easy, yet so tasty, with the sweet and salty combination. Normally you just use a single M&M on a Hershey’s kiss and pretzel, but these put an Easter twist on them by turning the candies into Easter bunnies. It’s such a cute snack that’s simple enough for kids to help with.

Ingredients:

  • Pretzel snaps
  • Any flavor Hershey’s kisses (I think birthday cake would be perfect for Easter!)
  • Easter M&M’s

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F
  2. Lay pretzel snaps out on parchment-lined tray
  3. Put one Hershey’s kiss on each pretzel
  4. Bake for 5 minutes
  5. Sort out M&M’s by color and cut some in half (one whole M&M and two halves of each color for each pretzel)
  6. Drop a whole M&M onto each pretzel, then add two halves
  7. Let set for 15-30 minutes in fridge then serve!

After seeing these easy and fun recipes, I hope you will put your baking skills to the test and try them this Easter. For being so quick and simple to make, these desserts are still delicious. I know I will be baking some of these treats for my family at our Easter gathering, and I’m sure your family would love them if you brought them to yours.
