Cortland Attractions Worth Checking Out

Nolan Weik · December 8, 2025

It can be easy to end up watching tv or doomscrolling all day when you have a day off. For the days you want to make the most of, go out and give these local places a try for your source of entertainment.

Crown City Cinema

Crown City Cinema is a small movie theater located at 1130 NY-13. This theater has old-school vibes, and that’s not a bad thing. It kind of seems stuck in time, I could imagine it existing 30 years ago without changing anything. This holds true for the prices too though! Just this week, they had $5 movie day, and their normal ticket price is only $12. Also, children, seniors, college students, and military all get discounted tickets priced at $10 with ID. Their snacks are also priced very reasonably relative to other theaters I’ve been to. The website lists movie showtimes, however showtimes are subject to change so be sure to check online the day you plan on going.

Shipwreck Amusements

Shipwreck is a miniature golf course, offering both outdoor and indoor mini golf, with the indoor course being glow in the dark. They also offer ice cream and other concessions, as well as an arcade inside. Shipwreck is located at 759 Rt. 13 and is open 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm Friday, 11:00 am – 9:00 pm Saturday, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm Sunday, and closed Monday through Wednesday. The pirate themed courses set a cool scene and include modifier wheels that you can spin to add fun twists to each hole. Also, this is home to the world’s longest mini golf hole that you should definitely try out at the end of your round!

Cort-Lanes Bowling

Based at 928 Rt. 13, Cort-Lanes offers a classic bowling experience perfect for casual players looking for a good time, or leagues better suited for more serious players. Monday through Thursday, they are open from 9:00 am – 9:30 pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00 am – 1:00 am, and Sunday 11:00 am – 8:00 pm. Also included inside is a bar/lounge with snacks served too. They host events such as birthday parties and other gatherings too, you just have to call ahead for pricing and details.

Lime Hollow Nature Center

If you’re looking for more of an outdoor adventure, Lime Hollow is a great place to spend time outside in the wilderness. Their visitor center is located at 338 McLean Rd. and is open Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. However, the public trails that span around 12 miles are open from dawn until dusk every day and have multiple access points. On the Lime Hollow website, they have a trail map and parking locations listed so you can pull right up to your desired trail entrance. I would personally recommend taking the Lehigh Valley Trail, which is one of the easiest to hike, and connect to the Maple Run Trail, which then leads you down to Chicago Bog. The Chicago Bog provides a nice amount of space to stop and hang out, a bench to sit on, and an open view of the water, making it one of my favorite locations at Lime Hollow. But, I encourage you to go explore for yourself and see what you stumble upon, or just enjoy a hike on some well-maintained trails.
