Sometimes it can be hard to find ways to mix it up when you’re in the mood for something sweet. If you’re looking for dessert options near the Cortland area, look no further. Here are the must-know places for your next sweet treat.

Footie’s Freez
Although Footie’s is only open from March through the end of October, this is the go-to for ice cream during the warmer months. When in season, they are open all week long from 12pm-9pm. A wide variety of both hard and soft serve ice cream is available, along with sundaes, floats, flurries, milkshakes, slushies, and even regular food like hot dogs and pulled pork. They operate out of a moderately sized shack and ordering/serving is all done through the window. There are picnic tables outside as well, providing a nice place to enjoy ice cream on a hot day. Footie’s is the place to go when you’re feeling up for some ice cream on a nice day.

Frosted
Located on Main Street, Frosted offers baked goods that will be sure to fulfill your cravings. You’ll have to catch them on the right day however, as they’re only open Wednesday through Friday from 7am-3pm and 9am-2pm on Saturdays. Stop by and try their famous cookies, specialty cupcakes, or you could even get a custom made cake. The service is friendly and accommodating, never leaving you dissatisfied. Baked in house, their single cookies are only $1.75 and cupcakes only $3. Frosted is perfect for grabbing a high quality dessert at a reasonable price.

Friendly’s
Over on Clinton Avenue, you can’t go wrong with the always reliable Friendly’s. They are open every day of the week from 11am-10pm. Friendly’s is a great place to experience some childhood nostalgia (for me anyways) while you get your sugary fix. The amount of different ice cream sundaes offered is mind blowing, ranging from banana splits to fruity pebble infused ice cream. My favorite has to be the caramel fudge brownie sundae. They also serve lava cake, milkshakes or “Fribble”, floats, and regular ice cream. Come to Friendly’s for your ice cream needs that can be satisfied year round.

Sinfully Sweet
While it’s not quite in Cortland, Sinfully Sweet makes the short drive over to Homer well worth it. Since 2015, they have been serving up freshly baked pastries and other delicious treats. They are open every day of the week, with varying hours however. Tuesday through Friday they operate from 8am-6pm, Saturday and Monday 8am-4pm, and Sunday 9am-3pm. When walking in, you are met with the smell of fresh baked goods that seems to coat the air in a very comforting way. In terms of dessert, Sinfully Sweet probably has the widest selection. Other than the typical cookies and cupcakes, they also serve cannoli’s, edible cookie dough, brownies, croissants, scones, cheesecake, candies and much more. If you’re feeling indecisive, this may not be the place to go. The options before you at Sinfully Sweet are seemingly endless!
For all dessert lovers, I hope this list gives you a couple of new options to try the next time you’re in the mood for a sweet snack. By no means is this a list of the guaranteed ‘best’ places for dessert, but based on my experience I believe they won’t disappoint. Go check out these spots and maybe you’ll find the perfect treat for you.
