Get in the Fall Spirit: 4 Local Farms Worth Visiting This Season

Alyssa Rich · October 13, 2025

With cooler weather settling in and the leaves starting to change, it’s a great time to take a break from school and enjoy everything fall has to offer. Whether you’re into pumpkin picking, corn mazes, or just looking for a fun weekend activity, there are plenty of local farms that make the most of the season. These spots are perfect for a quick day trip, and a good way to enjoy the outdoors before winter hits.

Here are four fall farms near Cortland, NY that are totally worth the drive!

Moore Family Farm – Sterling, NY

If you’re looking for a place that has a little bit of everything, Moore Family Farm is the move. This place goes all-out for fall, with over 35 attractions, including a massive 5-acre corn maze, pumpkin picking, and even duck races. You can launch apples with a cannon while trying some interactive farm games. One unique part is that you can reserve your own campfire pit and roast marshmallows with friends, ideal for chilly October nights. They also host themed weekends like “Witches Night Out” and “College Weekend”, which are perfect if you’re dressing up or just want a more social vibe. It’s a super fun way to spend a Saturday and take a break from school stress.

Springside Farm- Pompey, NY

Just a short drive from Syracuse, Springside Farm is basically a giant outdoor playground, especially if you’re into hands-on activities. The Maze Park is full of activities, including pedal carts and animal barns. Their corn maze is big enough to get lost in, plus they have pumpkins and gourds in every shape and color you’re trying to decorate your dorm or apartment. Springside has a relaxed and friendly vibe that makes it easy to spend a few hours there. Pro tip: go earlier in the season for fewer crowds and better pumpkin picks.

Tim’s Pumpking Patch – Marietta, NY

Tim’s Pumpking Patch is set on a beautiful farm near Skaneateles Lake, and it’s honestly hard to take a bad photo here. They have a big pumpkin patch, scenic hayrides, a corn maze, and some very cute barn animals. But what really seals the deal, the food. Their bakery is legendary, including their cider donuts, pumpkin funnel cakes, and hot apple cider. It’s the kind of place where you go in expecting to take cute fall pictures and end up staying for the snacks! If you’re hitting up one farm this fall, this one should be high on your list.

Pumpkin Hollow – Washington County, NY

Pumpkin Hollow offers a variety of classic fall activities. You can pick your own pumpkins from the field, take a hayride through the countryside, or make your way through the corn maze. There’s also a small petting zoo with animals and plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the fall scenery. The farm stand sells seasonal snacks like cider slushies, baked goods, and other local products. While it’s a bit more low-key than some of the larger farms, Pumpkin Hollow has everything you’d expect for a traditional fall visit and is a solid option if you’re looking for something simple and fun.

No matter what kind of fall experience you’re looking for, whether it’s packed with activities or something more laid-back, there’s a local farm that fits the vibe. These spots are a great way to enjoy the season, take a break from school, and make the most of fall while it lasts.
