If it’s your first semester on campus or if you’re an upperclassman, it is important to know where all the popular food places are to eat. It’s really easy to get bored with the food from the dining hall. Having several go-tos off the meal plan may save your mood and your appetite. Whether you’re meeting up with friends, need something quick in between classes, or just want something new to try. Here are just a few of some spots to try if you haven’t already, that are either a walk away or if you feel like driving.
- 7 Brew- One of my favorite spots to go to if you’re always on the run and want good coffee. They have really unique flavor combinations for coffees, and they also offer different flavors of energy drinks. Their staff is always really kind and cheerful when coming through the drive-through; it definitely adds to the experience of a simple coffee run.
- Coffee mania- This is another coffee spot that’s really popular among the students. They offer a variety of flavor combinations as well, and have the same drive-through method. It’s simple to understand why Coffee Mania gained such a loyal student following, given its multiple locations throughout the town, and their employees are always nice and welcoming.
- New York Bagel- This place is really good for breakfast or lunch. It is a highly recommended option for students near SUNY Cortland. This bagel spot, which is only a little walk from campus, has gained a loyal customer base because of its comfortable atmosphere. Junior Eva Saragossi says,” New York Bagel is one of my favorites, I like to go before class or to get lunch on the weekends”. If you want something other than food here, they also provide great coffee and smoothies.
- Wild Ginger Asian Fusion – Wild Ginger is a great place to visit if you’re ever in the mood for sushi, hibachi, or something different from a typical takeout. If you’re dining out with friends who have diverse tastes, the menu offers something for everyone. Groups will like their hibachi dinners, and the lunch specials are pretty affordable.
- Arctic Bites- This place is fairly new and has gained popularity among students. Particularly because their prices are really affordable. Senior Abby Wu said, “I just tried this place for the first time recently, and it was really good and affordable”. They have rolled ice cream, you can choose from their signature creations or build your own with tons of toppings and mix-ins. It’s a fun place to stop by when you’re craving something sweet, or just in the mood for asian food.
- Brix- When no one can agree on what to eat, you wind up at BRIX. Other than their popular brick-oven pizzas, they also serve sandwiches, wings, and lots of nice appetizers that are fun to try. It has a very laid-back, student-friendly attitude, and that usually picks up at night and especially on the weekends. Also, they have gluten-free and vegetarian alternatives, which is always great.
