Explore opportunities of studying abroad at the SUNY Cortland annual Study Abroad Fair this upcoming Friday with a chance to win $500 Travel Award.
The Study Abroad Fair will give students the opportunity to learn about the international programs, meet with fellow peers who have studied abroad in past semesters and even the chance to win one of two $500 travel awards. This event is designed to highlight all the opportunities available to students who are interested in expanding their horizons. The Study Abroad Fair offers many options that can accommodate students based on their majors, schedules and budgets.
Affordability
One of the most significant aspects of the fair is affordability. SUNY Cortland is devoted to making these experiences accessible to all. At this event, students will learn all about grants, scholarships and faculty lead programs that are intended to make this experience pocket friendly. Along with these, students will have the chance to enter to win one of two $500 travel awards.
Talk to Peers
The study abroad fair also highlights peer experiences. International students that are currently studying here at SUNY Cortland and students who have studied abroad in the past will be there to share their own personal experiences and answer any questions about what its like to study in a different country.
A Variety of Programs
A variety of programs are offered when it comes to studying abroad. SUNY Cortland offers more than 10 faculty led programs during summer and winter breaks. These shorter term trips are popular with students who have hectic schedules or financial restraints.
Faculty led programs allow students to travel amongst other classmates and professors to make the trip more organized and supportive. There are also semester long and year long exchanges available for students that desire a long term more in depth experience.
These experiences include travel to Europe, Asia, Africa and South America through SUNYs network of partner institutions. With all of these options, students with any major can find a program that suits them best.
Why Study Abroad?
Despite the excitement of traveling, studying abroad can provide not only academic but personal benefits as well. After returning from abroad, students will gain greater adaptability, stronger problem solving skills and enhanced cross cultural communication. On the more personal level, students state that they gained independence, self assurance and friendships that last a lifetime.
Additionally, exposure to different cultures could expand perspectives helping students further approach their education and careers with fresh perspectives. For many students, studying abroad becomes a defining experience that will never be forgotten.
