During halftime of the football game on September 13th where SUNY Cortland played Union College, 7 members were inducted into the Cortland Hall of Fame. The Cortland Hall of Fame or the “C-Club” is something all athletes and coaches that attend Cortland thrive to get in. The C-Club is for members of SUNY Cortland who made a lasting impact for the college athletics programs and sports, as coaches and players and continued that success after college. New members get inducted into the club every year.

The seven members that were inducted in 2025 were Mary Rock Bradbury, Jim Meyerdierks, Tom Spanbauer, Carol Rainson-Rose, Barry Thornton, Tom Williams and Michael Tota. Of the seven, the first to graduate was in 1979 and the most recent to graduate was in 2012. Each of the seven inductees were athletes and one also was inducted as a coach. There was one Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Lacrosse and Football inductee. Two played Men’s Basketball and three played Men’s Lacrosse. One coached Men’s Basketball and Women’s Tennis.

Mary Rock Bradbury was part of the 1979 graduating class and was inducted for Women’s Volleyball. Jim Meyerdierks, graduating in 1981 and Tom Williams, graduating in 2001, were inducted for Men’s Basketball. Carol Rainson-Rose, class of 1987 was inducted for Women’s Lacrosse and Micheal Tota, class of 2012 was inducted for Men’s Lacrosse. There were two inductees that were inducted for multiple sports. Barry Thornton from the class of 1993 was inducted for Football and Men’s Lacrosse. Tom Spanbauer was inducted as a player for Men’s Basketball and as a coach for two different sports, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Tennis. Spanbauer got his bachelor’s as part of the class of 1983 and his masters in 1986. Each of the 2025 inductees joins the C-Club for their impact on their respective programs and following success.

SUNY Cortland’s Hall of Fame can be found at Park Center, off Folmer Drive. Park Center houses the Cortland Hall of Fame room as well as the walk of champions. The walk of champions is where every national championship team from all of Cortland’s sports has their banner hung.

Inductions for the C-Club are always an exciting time of the year for former athletes and coaches. There were seven inductions this year, which is two less than last year, which had nine. The nine inductees in 2024 are tied with 2001 with the most inductions in one year. The graduating class of 1949 has the most inductions for a class with sixteen. In total, there are 304 alumni and 33 honorary members of the club.
