Graduation is approaching and it brings up many mixed emotions for graduates, their underclassman friends and even alumni.
I will be graduating this upcoming weekend and am excited for all the opportunities that are going to come after I graduate but it is certainly a heartfelt time to leave this school.
First arriving at Cortland I looked forward to all the memories I would make and all of the things I would learn but at the end of the day, the best part of the experience was the people I met along the way. Cortland has brought me to many of my closest friends and that is something I will always think about when I look back at Cortland.
But I’m not the only one who found that Cortland was a great place to meet new people. I also spoke with an Exercise Science major, freshman, as well as an 1995 alumni and they both had the same things to say.
Cortland freshman, says that after just his first year at Cortland he is already happy with his decision to attend school here. Cortland, offering a strong Exercise Science program, allows him to meet many similar people through his major all while getting a quality education.
“Without everything that is offered for my major here, I never would have met best friends,” he says.
But if you are wondering if Cortland makes friends for life, the answer is yes. I spoke with a 1995 graduate, and President of the retired Beta fraternity, Rick Merrill and he says he still speaks to his friends from Cortland on a daily basis.
“Cortland was a lot of fun,” Merrill said. “Being a part of Beta I was able to meet a lot of people from all over and we all still talk and make time to visit each other.”
So whether you are an incoming freshman, underclassman or soon to be alumni, Cortland definitely still leaves you with something to look forward to.
