With the musky smell of the Lusk Field House and flags flying, it could be only one thing.
It is the intramural indoor football league and the regular season is reaching its climax. But first, a little brush up on the rules of indoor football. The rules are similar to regular flag football but played indoors, there are six players on each side, and after a touchdown, there is a 2- or 3-point conversion where they play a down to try to reach the end zone based on how far the team is, instead of attempting a one-point field goal kick.
With that, the on the floor action was heating up and here are the top three games from the week.
3. The Friggin Packets Yo vs. Gilshop, April 7th
This game was a lopsided affair for The Friggin Packets Yo. They swamped the Gilshop offense, causing many incompletions and interceptions throughout the course of the game. Also, they performed an on-point passing attack that carried the offense during the game.
The game kicked off with The Friggin Packets Yo throwing for a touchdown in the beginning of the first quarter to put them in front early. The rest of the first quarter saw both teams getting near the endzone, but nothing came to fruition.
In the first possession of the second quarter, the ball was tossed by the quarterback for a touchdown for The Friggin Packets Yo. The next possession, they turned an interception into a pick six to extend the lead to 22 to 0 by the end of the half.
A play stands out that happened in the third quarter and that sealed the deal for the game. The Friggin Packets Yo’s quarterback stepped back, shuffled right and flicked the ball to another player. He then chucked a bomb down the floor that was caught by the receiver for another touchdown. One more touchdown was scored for The Friggin Packets Yo in the fourth quarter and they shut out Gilshop 32 to 0. The Friggin Packets Yo advanced to a record of 1-2, while Gilshop is at a record of 0-2.
2. The Welly Dukes vs. Da Goats, April 6th
The game started off with a touchdown by the Welly Dukes, with some tit for tat defense for the rest of the first quarter, ending with the score being 8 to 0.
But this was the calm before the storm, for there was an explosion of points for the Welly Dukes during the next three quarters, much of them courtesy of their defense.
The Welly Dukes scored a pick-six in the second, third, and fourth quarter. All three of the defensive scores were similar. Three times, Da Goats was deep in their own territory, their quarterback chucked it up, only to have a Welly Dukes defender catch the pass. The defensive player would evade the charging Da Goat players like a ghost and take it to the endzone.
The Welly Dukes offense chipped in with two more touchdowns over the course of the three quarters, one from the air and one from the ground.
The games ended at the two-minute mark of the fourth quarter with a mercy rule win for the Welly Dukes 51 to 0. They advance to 3-0 while Da Goats are at a record of 0-2.

- City Boys vs. No Fly Zone, April 2nd
The game started out with a No Fly Zone passing touchdown in the middle of the first quarter to bring the score to 6 to 0.
For the rest of the first quarter, the second, and part of the third quarter, not much happened other than the ball going back and forth between the two teams. Both teams drove deep into their opponent’s territory but could not get across the goal line, turning the ball over on downs.
Towards the end of the third quarter, No Fly Zone scored another passing touchdown to bring the score to 12-0.
By the fourth quarter, it appeared the game was all for No Fly Zone, but the City Boys quickly turned it around. Within the first possession of the fourth quarter, the City Boys put it in the endzone. Then, in quick succession, they took possession from No Fly Zone two times and within a few plays, City Boys had converted it into touchdowns to grab the lead. A pick-six in the last minute sealed the deal and the City Boys won it 27-12. The City Boys advances to 2-0 while No Fly Zone is sitting at a record of 0-2.
