For most college students spring break is either coming up or currently happening. This is a time after midterms when students can finally take that much-needed rest halfway through the spring semester. Even though it feels like students have just returned from winter break it is getting closer and closer to the final stretch of the 2024-2025 school year. Here are some ideas on how to spend some time this spring break!
Traveling is often shared at this time of year. Whether it’s a warm and beachy location like the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico, or a city day in NYC or Boston, or a European destination this could be a fun idea. A warm and beachy location could include good food, boat rides, and good music. A city day could consist of a good walk, museums, and new food spots. In addition, if you are feeling extra fancy, a nice trip to Europe to explore the fashion, pubs, and cool culture can be a nice educational excursion.
This free time can be an eye-opening week to pick up some new hobbies. These could include some outdoor activities like biking or hiking. With the weather slowly getting warmer some outdoor activities can be beneficial for one’s physical and mental health. Some artsy ideas can include painting, drawing, or photography. Spring is slowly upon us, nature is starting to bloom once again. Painting, drawing, or even taking photos of nature can be soothing and relaxing during this break.
Some self-care never hurt anybody! A trip to the local spa with some hometown friends or family members that you have not seen in a few months can heal all the stress collected from those pesky midterms. More self-care can include yoga classes to feel more zen, finally sleeping in, and recharging with some good reads. Self-care is extremely important for overall well-being, reducing stress, improving relationships, and boosting mental health.
In all, a good digital detox is extremely important. All of these ideas have one main idea and it is to reconnect with the outside world and disconnect from social media. The media can be damaging to one’s physical and mental health so taking a break and stepping away from the phone, computer, laptop or any device is a good start to a beneficial and healthy spring break. Focusing on real connections and being present is valuable in the day-to-day. So now is the time to do so this spring break.
