On a vibrant Saturday morning, SUNY Cortland students celebrated sound by participating in the annual Celebrate Sound 5K Color Run/Walk organized by the university’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) chapter.
The event was filled with participants running and walking through clouds of colorful powder, and it was more than just a fun, energetic activity. With 80% of the proceeds benefiting Ayati Sri Lanka, the event aimed to support the inclusion and development of children with disabilities. The remaining funds supported the Hearing Aid Project, providing hearing aids to individuals in need.
“This event was a great way for students to come together, have fun, and make a difference,” said one participant. “It’s amazing to think that while we were celebrating sound with the run, we were also contributing to a cause that helps people with hearing difficulties on the other side of the world.”
For those who couldn’t attend, the NSSLHA chapter encouraged donations and sharing the event to help raise awareness and support. Every contribution counts, as the funds help make a lasting impact both locally and globally.
Whether running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, participants celebrated the community while helping others in need. The 5K Color Run/Walk was an unforgettable morning of fun and philanthropy, showing that even the smallest actions can make a big difference.
