The city considered to be the mega hub of all sports talk and success throughput all major sporting leagues, New York City and the entire state resonate with championship culture and ultra headlining athletes leading the charge.
However as of recent the major organizations representing the empire state have fallen short of expectations and in the business operations seem to be lacking as well. The offseason following the 2023-2024 season, New York Giants fans were forced to watch their favorite player and face of football walk away.
Not only was Saquon Barkley leaving big blue, he was big blue and was the center of all confidence surrounding the game plan. Although the team around Barkley was not excellent, he consistently brought a buzz of amazement and it felt at any given moment #26 could be off to the races for a touchdown keeping fans on the edge of their seats.Barkley logged three 1,000 yard seasons and produced much of the Giants offense.Weather as a distraction or ball carrier, Barkley was a threat from anywhere.
But now, after a prolonged contract dispute, Barkley has parted ways with the Giants, leaving a massive void in both the team’s roster and the hearts of New York fans. His departure signifies not just the loss of a dynamic running back, but the end of a chapter in the Giants’ storied history where a homegrown star was expected to lead them back to glory.
Dom Morano is a New York Giants fan that saw two different teams from the era of Barkley, to the offense without their best player. Morano said:
“I felt that even though we didn’t have a good o line, Saquan was always a great back so you never counted the offense out. But without him it seems like we lost some physicality and his ability to create the big play.
Meanwhile, the New York Jets, who once hoped to emerge as contenders with the addition of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers, now find themselves in an equally precarious situation. Rodgers, acquired in a highly publicized trade that set the stage for a Jets resurgence, was supposed to revitalize a franchise hungry for success.
Yet, just a few games into the season, the unthinkable happened. Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon, sidelining him for the rest of the year, and potentially for longer. The Jets, who had banked their hopes on Rodgers’ experience and leadership, now face an uncertain future without their star signal-caller. Even this past year Jets fans rooted for what seemed to be a disheveled Aaron Rodgers who delivered no hope.Producing a It was once again, frustration for the Jets who are a little too familiar with disappointment. Suny Cortland students Sam kustal, who cheers for the jets said:
“My mindset had always been, what can go wrong will go wrong”
In regards to Rodgers tenure with the Jets, Kustal said:
“When I think of his tenure I think of injuries, disappointment, and I think of lackluster coaching and lackluster attention to detail from almost the entire team”
Anyone who knows football understands that the New York Jets epitomize disappointment with a history of devastating losses and underwhelming performances. A merry go round of disappointment and being considered the little bro in New York.
Ultimately in the world of football New York teams have given fans little to cheer for with a list of poor draft picks and bad management decisions, allowing these stars to walk away takes morale down even more. The New York Giants are without a face, although Malik Nabers seems to show much promise after an excellent rookie year performance. The Jets have the pieces but for some reason can’t manage to put twins together.
