These events are designed to encourage students to love themselves, promote body positivity, and focus on mental health and self-care.
Monday, February 17 – Positive Post-Its
Start your week off on a positive note with the “Positive Post-Its” campaign. Throughout the day, look for inspiring and uplifting messages placed on bathroom mirrors around campus. These notes are designed to brighten your day and remind you of the importance of self-love and positive body image. It’s a simple yet powerful way to kick off Body Appreciation Week with a boost of confidence.
Tuesday, February 18 (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
Take a break and recharge by visiting the Student Life Center Mind Body Room for a special event focused on relaxation and mindfulness. “Escape (Into This) Room” will feature a variety of activities including body scans, an emotions wheel, meditation, and coping techniques to help you manage stress and connect with your body in a healthy way. There will also be a raffle for a weighted blanket which is perfect for relaxation and stress relief!
Wednesday, February 19 – Embrace Strength Beyond the Gym (7-8 p.m.)
Listen in on an inspiring talk by gymnast Tobey at the Corey Union Exhibition Lounge. Tobey will share her personal experiences and discuss practices and methods she has learned over the years to promote health and body appreciation. Whether you’re an athlete or just someone looking to build confidence, this event is a great opportunity to learn how strength goes beyond physical appearance and the gym.
Thursday, February 20 – Fuel For Your Body (1-3 p.m.)
Healthy eating is an essential part of self-care. On Thursday, head to the Neubig Hall Lobby from 1-3 p.m. to learn about how food impacts your body. You’ll also have the chance to create your own trail mix and enter to win a prize.
Friday, February 21 – Self-Care and Mental Health Resources
Wrap up Body Appreciation Week by taking a moment to check out mental health and self-care resources available to you on campus. A campus email will be sent out with important links and information on how to access support. It’s a reminder that body appreciation isn’t just physical; mental well-being is just as important.
