Donald Trump’s recent election victory has stirred up strong reactions. But for me as an international student from Sweden – there’s still a solid case for seeing this as a positive step for both global relations, economic growth, and the current conflict in Ukraine and Isreal. Trump’s no-nonsense approach and commitment to “America First” might seem divisive, yet he won both the electoral votes and the popular vote which tends to show that American citizens got what they wanted.
From a global perspective, Trump’s win signals a shift toward greater accountability in international relations. I think the U.S. has carried the weight of global security and economic stability, often without equal support from allies. The Nato alliance is a great example of that as the United States stood for 22% of the funding until Donald Trump in 2019 lowered it to 16% and held more countries accountable. Trump’s stance – is that allies should contribute more to their own defense and economic sustainability which could lead to a fairer, more balanced system where every nation takes responsibility. Instead of relying on American support, nations could start to stand on their own, contributing to a more balanced global order. Trump’s willingness to question longstanding alliances like NATO might seem confrontational, but it encourages allied countries to build stronger, more self-sufficient defense systems that would lead to a more functioning Europe and America.
Economically, Trump’s policies have the potential to spark global growth. His focus on renegotiating trade deals and bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. might initially sound isolating, but it could stimulate innovation worldwide. As already seen, there’s been a huge spike when it comes to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies right after Donald Trump got elected for his second term as President. As Trump and Elon Musk are big motivators for the untraceable currency that would provide billions with some sort of “last resort”. By encouraging other countries to also prioritize local industries, Trump’s policies could create a healthier competitive market. Countries could start investing in their own resources, creating jobs, and building industries that are less reliant on American imports. The result? A stronger global economy with nations that can better sustain themselves.
Another reason to view Trump’s win positively is his straightforwardness. In a world where politics can sometimes feel slowed down by vague statements and empty promises, Trump’s approach is refreshingly clear. His style may challenge the typical political norms, but it also holds the potential to bring real change. Regarding global issues, Trump’s “tough love” attitude could lead to practical solutions and a world where every nation is expected to pull its weight. For example, Russian president or Dictator (which could be seen as a more precise term) Vladimir Putin has urged to meet with the 47th President to negotiate the War in the northeast region of Europe. The same goes for the ongoing war in the Middle East as Hezbollah lawmaker Ibrahim al-Moussawi has urged for a more demanding America to take action against Israel’s crimes towards the Palestinian people.
Donald Trump’s victory isn’t just a win for America – it’s a call for stronger, more independent nations around the world according to my knowledge. His focus on fair trade, national self-reliance, and a balanced global system could push countries to take a more active role in their own affairs. For those of us watching from a global perspective, Trump’s victory represents an opportunity for a stronger, more resilient world order where nations are encouraged to prosper on their own terms. This election was about more than just America. Trump’s victory is a chance to rethink how we approach international relations and global trade. While his style might be bold, it brings a refreshing focus on fairness, accountability, and shared responsibility. That’s a future worth looking forward to.
Not only do a lot of the factual statements I’ve provided show that Donald Trump’s victory in the election will benefit the country of America and the world. But my own experience of how the world looks would need a “Trump attitude” to be able to manage world leaders such as Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-Un, Xi Jinping, and many more for us to avoid any further global crises or future trade wars.
