With the poll of choices now being sent out to students across campus by the Student Activities Board, it’s important to make students aware of the artists they could be getting to see for the upcoming 2025 Spring Fling.
If you didn’t know, Spring Fling is a concert event that happens once every spring semester. An artist that gets the most votes amongst the polls that are sent out to students is the artist that Cortland hopefully is able to book in concert. Last year for our Spring Fling we had The Driver Era, featuring Ross and Rocky Lynch. This year, we have a vast selection of hitmakers for students to choose from.
For Starters, Probably the most recognizable artist on the list is Tate McRae. Tate has plenty of chart-topping hits including a few from her 2023 album “Think Later”. Another artist in the polls who’s been blowing up recently is Ken Carson. Carson has exploded since joining Playboi Carti’s label “Opium” in 2019. He’s had a lot of recent success. Both artists would definitely be great candidates for our Spring Fling.
Switching up Genre’s a little bit, there are some bands that you may have forgotten about. One such group is Fitz and the Tantrums, who have released some of the biggest anthems of our generation with songs like “Handclap” and “Out of My League”. Personally, I love this band, but as I asked around campus, I found that most people had no idea who they were, but they recognized their hits. The same thing applied for the group Neon Trees who have released smash hits like “Everybody Talks” and “Animal”, as well as their most recent album “Sink Your Teeth” which just released on September 20th.
Other Big names available for pick are some early 2000’s pop icons. One huge name is Natasha Bedingfield, who if somehow you didn’t know, is responsible for classics like “Unwritten” and “Pocket Full of Sunshine”. As well as her, we have Nelly Furtado, who is also responsible for songs like “Promiscuous” with Timbaland and “Maneater”. Now if you don’t know these two artists, you must’ve been living under a rock. Regardless, they both provide some great options, and I think students would be excited to see either of them in concert.
If none of these artists have piqued your interest, there are plenty I’ve yet to name. More include rappers like Soulja Boy or even Baby Tron. Waka Flocka Flame is also an option, as well as many more that we have to choose from.
And there’s still more where that came from. Even if any of those artists didn’t sound like the ideal Spring Fling, there’s still half a dozen artists I didn’t name that I encourage you to check out. For any information about Spring Fling, take a look at the Cortland SAB Instagram page. There should be updates, and the link to the survey do you can weigh in on who you want to come to Cortland this spring. No matter what though, I’m sure with these options we have we’ll definitely have a spring fling to remember.
