What’s new around campus, and what’s stayed the same? As we roll into another year at SUNY Cortland, it’s good to take a look at all the dining options that are available to students across campus. There have been some very notable additions this fall that are proving to be very popular, as well as staples of Cortland’s dining that have stayed put through the summer break.
For starters, maybe the most obvious change is the addition of a brand-new coffee shop. Dunkin Donuts has made its way to Cortland, taking the place of what was once Union Station. The new Dunkin is located in Corey Union, right alongside 2 other campus favorites. Another noteworthy addition is Neubig Nites. If you’re a returning student, you’re probably familiar with the Neubig dining hall, which switched over to take out for dinnertime. This semester however, what was once Neubig takeout is now Neubig Nites. Neubig Nites is another dining dollar and meal exchange dining experience, unlike the original Neubig takeout. Neubig Nites offers students a new menu consisting primarily of chicken and vegetarian meat options. On top of that, students get access to new ice cream flavors, and the ability to customize their own milkshakes.
In terms of returning spots, the iconic Bistro is staple of Cortland dining and is, of course, back. Bistro offers a variety of food options that rotate daily. As previously mentioned, Bistro and Neubig are both available for regular meal swipes rather than dining dollars. another returning spot that’s a fan favorite is Hilltop in Brockway Hall, home of the famous chicken tender wrap. Hilltop also has a host of menu items varying from personal pizzas, grilled items, and sushi. Hilltop is most definitely the spot to check out.
In the same vein as Hilltop, the other stars of Corey Union are once again available. For lunch you’ll have access to Greens and Grains which offers a great selection of salad and sandwich options, alongside grain and broth bowls. You’ll also find the coveted chicken tender wrap here as well just in case you can’t get your hands on one at Hilltop up campus. Alongside greens and grains is Chick-N-Bap, which is another great choice for lunch. Here you’ll find a Korean take on chicken and rice platters. each bowl is customizable with many choices in protein, add-ons, and sauces, and is definitely a must try for any new or returning student who somehow hasn’t tried it yet.
Outside of the addition of Dunkin and the other standing dining halls, there are also places where students can use dining dollars and meal exchanges to get more variety of food like the Sawubona Cafe in Moffett Center, which has to offer a nice coffee and breakfast spot with breakfast and lunch sandwiches alike, and the Bookmark Cafe in the library which has plenty variety of its own in the breakfast lane. The Bookmark is also home to some great smoothies with tons of different flavors to try. And speaking of flavors to try, the Fuel station in the Student Life Center, or SLC has all sorts of smoothies and protein rich options for people fresh out of the gym. Fuel is the perfect spot after a workout, and it’s hard to pass up as it stares you in the face right as you come out of the gym.
Overall, whether you’re a new student, or well versed in all the on-campus dining options available here at Cortland, there’s surely something on campus that you’ll take a liking to.
