SUNY Cortland Athletics prides itself on winning at the highest level. The programs are filled with high-end student-athletes who are doing a phenomenal job at representing the school. Many of the teams are recognized at the national level for winning and making deep runs within their conference/NCAA tournament appearances. Sports play a pivotal role in college culture, fostering community spirit, pride, and camaraderie among students, alumni, and the broader community.
However, fluctuating attendance rates pose a challenge for many college sports programs. To address this issue, colleges must employ innovative strategies to enhance crowd attendance and engagement. With that being said, the school has a student body that loves to support their fellow peers. I intend to provide ways in which this community can reach newer heights as they continue to cheer on the Red Dragons!
Cortland can improve sports attendance by focusing on creating engaging fan experiences, implementing effective promotion and marketing initiatives, enhancing student involvement, engaging with the local community, and embracing technology and innovation. By adopting a multifaceted approach that addresses the diverse needs and interests of fans, colleges can cultivate vibrant, thriving sporting environments that foster school pride, community spirit, and a love for sports that extends far beyond the campus walls.
One of the primary factors influencing sports attendance is the overall fan experience. Colleges can enhance this experience by investing in facilities, amenities, and entertainment options. Upgrading facilities to provide comfortable seating, modern concessions, and high-quality audiovisual systems can significantly enhance the spectator experience.
