Congratulations to the SUNY Cortland Student Activities Board for receiving the National Boyd Jones Programming Board of the Year award at the 2024 APCA National Conference! The board was recognized for their contributions to the SUNY Cortland campus and the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities community.
From February 15th to 18th, members of SUNY Cortlands Student Activity Board attended APCA, a national conference to recognize colleges across the country. Amidst a whirlwind of festivities and activities, the Cortland SAB emerged victorious, securing the coveted title of Programming Board of the Year.
Kyle Cannon, the advisor of SAB and Assistant Director of Campus Activities and Corey Union at SUNY Cortland, had nothing but praise for the group, “This award is a well-deserved recognition of their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional programming and service to their campus and the wider community,” he wrote on Instagram.
Summer Roberts, SAB Programming Chair, says “I feel so proud of our entire E-Board and G-Board, as well as all the events we’ve planned together. I’m so happy APCA recognized all of our hard work and dedication.”
Echoing Roberts’ sentiment, SAB President Abby Loiselle extended gratitude to Kyle Cannon, acknowledging his invaluable support and dedication to their endeavors.
Another prize won by SAB was the APCA Regional Community Service Project of the Year for last semester’s Drag Brunch event. The brunch was thrown in collaboration with SUNY Cortland’s Pride Club in honor of their homecoming week and was a huge success. Attendees even got to see President Bitterbaum in a wig up on stage.
Every week, SAB has at least one event that is sure to be a good time for any SUNY Cortland student.
Throughout the semester, SAB consistently delivers an array of engaging events tailored to cater to the diverse interests of SUNY Cortland students. From snow cones to karaoke, color runs, bingo, and comedy nights, each week promises excitement and entertainment. Notable highlights include the Cortaca week events such as jersey night and the carnival, all orchestrated by the dynamic SAB team, with each event open to all students.
This semester, SAB’s big event is Spring Fling. Although we don’t know who the performer is just yet, there’s been a couple of rumors circulating and I can confidently say I’d be happy with any of the names I’ve heard. Once again, congratulations to the Student Activities Board, and thank you for all your hard work!
