As the countdown begins for the highly anticipated season opener, the SUNY Cortland men’s lacrosse team is brimming with excitement and anticipation.
With just a few days until they face off against St. John Fisher, the team is in high spirits, ready to showcase their hard work and determination on the field.
Caden Yancey, junior attacker speaks for the team and coaching staff as they prepare for the upcoming game. He said the team is, “Super pumped.”
After so much time and effort of intense training and preparation, the team is eager to finally put their skills to the test in a competitive matchup.
With a focus on studying their opponents’ strategies and fine-tuning their own gameplay, the SUNY Cortland lacrosse team is leaving nothing to chance to ensure their victory. “We have been practicing against different offenses and defenses as [St. John Fisher],” explains attacker number 6 Sam Rothman, highlighting the team’s meticulous preparation.
Recognizing the strength and talent of the St. John Fisher’s team, Yancy understands the importance of being prepared for a tight game on the field.
“Yes, it should be a close game,” Yancy anticipates.
Rothman seconds Yancy’s point saying, “Great team should have a great game.”
Accepting the challenge, he believes that facing a team with equal abilities as the Red Dragons will only bring out the best in his team.
Drawing from past experiences, Yancy understands the importance of learning from both victories and defeats. “In the two games I’ve played against them we lost the first one and won the second one.” Armed with insights from previous matchups, he is determined to lead his team to success in their season opener.
