Ever wondered what a typical day looks like for a student at SUNY Cortland? Join me on a journey through a day filled with classes, workouts, study sessions, and some down time.
The day begins with a hearty breakfast – today, it’s an egg sandwich that fuels me for the day ahead. But first, I can not forget to feed my cat before indulging myself. After breakfast, I quickly tidy up and prepare for the day’s classes.
Dressed and ready to go, I embark on the quest for parking on campus. Despite driving around for what feels like ages, I eventually accept defeat and opt for a spot in the paid lot and walk to class.
My morning classes kick off with Law and Ethics, where engaging discussions keep me thoroughly interested. Fortunately, my next class is in the same classroom, allowing me to review notes and update my planner during the break. My next class, international communication, is a note-taking affair, and I followed it up with a quick review session.
With my in-person classes done for the day, I head back home to refuel with a bowl of granola and fruit before hitting the gym. Today’s workout focuses on arms, with a side of cardio for good measure.
Post-workout, a refreshing shower rejuvenates me as I settle in for a productive study session. This is my time to tackle homework and catch up on online classes. In between assignments, I take a moment to tidy up around the house, waiting for my roommates to finish up with their own classes.
As my roommates trickle in from their own classes, we unwind with a few episodes of our favorite show, “This is Us”. Then, it’s off to the kitchen to whip up tonight’s dinner, one of my favorites, chicken cutlets and pasta with vodka sauce. We gather around the table, sharing stories from our days and enjoying each other’s company.
After we’ve savored every last bite of our delicious dinner, it’s time to tackle the aftermath and clean up the kitchen. With music playing in the background and each of us taking on a specific task, we wash dishes, wipe down countertops, and restore order to our house.
Once the kitchen is clean, we reconvene on the couch for another round of watching T.V. Wrapped in our blankets, we delve into a few more episodes. But our evening isn’t just about relaxation – we also use this time to dive back into our studies and homework. With laptops open and textbooks ready, we tackle assignments, review notes, and quiz each other on course material.
As the night goes on, we start feeling the weight of the day. Yawns become more frequent, and our energy levels dip. We realize it’s time to wrap things up. We share our goodnights and head off to our rooms. Snuggled under the covers, we drift off to sleep, ready to recharge for whatever tomorrow brings. And with that, another day in the life of a SUNY Cortland student comes to a close
