Club Lacrosse is a very intense sport and many people love to involve themselves with lacrosse.
A player that goes by the name T.J. Pilewski and his teammate Ryan Cullen has given a wonderful insight as to what the club has been up to and what they plan for the season.
Now what is Club Lacrosse you ask? Club Lacrosse refers to the level of lacrosse competition that exists outside of the traditional school team. Club Lacrosse has many attributes that can help better you athletically and academically.
Now I have had the chance to interview two of Cortland’s finest, T.J. Pilewski and Ryan Cullen. They spoke to me about many different things that have been happening and what is going to happen for their upcoming season.
The schedule for the upcoming season consists of over seven different games. Cortland plays schools such as Syracuse, Binghamton, and Cornell who all play at the Division I level.
When we were having our interview, I asked numerous questions pertaining to their season and what they thought.
I asked, “How would you handle a situation where a key player consistently breaks the team rules?”
“If a key player kept breaking the rules after speaking to that individual more than once then they would be removed from the team.” T.J. said, “At the end of the day we’re a school club and we try to keep the best reputation possible.”
After this, I prompted Ryan by asking him, “In what ways have you used technology to improve your playing methods?”
“Technology has made it easier to schedule games with other teams. We’re able to reach out to different organizations much more efficiently,” T.J. said. “Also communicating with the team is much easier.”
The excitement is clearly there for both of these Cortland students. T.J. said, “I’m very excited to play. We’ve got a few tournaments that have us traveling to cool places.” “For example, we are playing UMass so I’m excited to go to Boston and play. Also, this season is taking us to Maryland,” Ryan said.
To understand how Club Lacrosse works, we must delve into some of their daily routine which T.J. was very happy to explain to me. “I usually wake up and go to the gym. Then go home, eat, shower, and head to my classes. After that, I’m doing schoolwork or with friends until I have to go to work or practice.”
Looking at last season, the club lacrosse team went 3-1 on the season and what they plan to do is better than what they did last season.
The team is truly focusing on everything that went wrong and they intend to amplify all the rights they did last season and implement it into this season.
