Maguire Subaru zoomed into local animal shelter, CNY Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, with a trunk full of donations! As the Subaru Loves Pets initiative ends, CNY SNAP received $3,100 in donations for achieving their goal of 31 adoptions in October.
Subaru’s General Manager, Cory Olivares, and Sales Manager, Alex Hancharic pulled in with a van full of donations and helped unload them into our shelter.
“Maguire Subaru has been so happy to support CNY SNAP and to see how much they help the community here. We really hope these donations go a long way to help!” Olivares states.
Inside CNY SNAP
Jeans Day
Maguire Subaru hosted an event called “Jeans Day,” on October 20th. Where employees have the “chance to wear jeans to work by proving a donation for [CNY SNAP],” with bins being set up in all store locations. This was just one of Subaru’s events, while CNY SNAP hosted three extra special event within the month to help promote their partnership. Many of their events included working with other local businesses and is something they encourage other small, local, nonprofit’s to do as well.
Keeping a Clean Space
Once all items were brought inside, with the help of all the volunteers, along with Olivares and Hancharic of course, the donations were put away by Jackie Pitt. Pitt, former teacher for over twenty years and longtime volunteer here, works hard to keep the facility clean and organized. As they have little room to spare, being organized is essential.
Jill Pace, volunteer adoption coordinator for around two years, gave Olivares and Hancharic a full tour. Although CNY SNAP is tight for space, there are five different rooms and their clinic room, which is used on Saturdays. As we walked through, each room had several cats roaming around out on the floor, excited to put on a show for our guests!
October Adoptions
Once Maguire Subaru left, I was able to speak with Pace some more. I wanted know more about their adoptions in October. Pace pulled out a white folder and counted them right in front of me and says with such pride, “We got 50 adoptions this month!” She mentioned there were formally feral adoptions, a few of the cats that were feral and then went into the barn cat program and even a FIV+ cat was adopted, which is considered an ‘underdog’ by Subaru.
