As someone who often procrastinates, I’ve mastered the perfect routine to keep me on track for the beginning of the new week. Getting yourself together for the new week requires motivation, but it makes you feel so much better once you can go to bed with all of your tasks complete.
One of the first things I would start my night off with would be lighting a candle! Set the mood and then you’re good to start getting everything together. Once the mood is set, you’re going to want to make sure your room is clean. Cleaning your space helps clear your mind. It makes doing every other task in said space, much more compelling. One tip on cleaning your room is to go in categories. Put all your clothes away at once, then makeup, misc., etc. Once your space is clean, you’re ready to begin your tasks.
This one is a given, but make sure all of your school assignments and studying are done! Lots of people (including me) wait until Sunday night to start your homework that you had all weekend to do. While it still gets done, it’s not productive and can lead to loads more stress! I would even recommend going to the library to do your work so that you’re more inclined to get it done. I’ve found that it makes getting work done easier because of the not disruptive environment. Try to make sure to get it done in the morning or daytime. This way, you can just relax when it’s bedtime.
This next task has helped me so much throughout my week, which is shopping and meal prepping. Getting groceries on Sunday makes it easier for you throughout the week so that you don’t have to work around your class schedule to go shopping. It’s also nice to prep your food at the beginning of the week so that your food is more accessible during the week. Whether it’s washing and cutting fruit, or pre-cooking chicken, it’s a huge time saver and I recommend everyone tries it.
Once your space is clean, your schoolwork is done, and your groceries are bought, it’s time to focus on yourself. At the end of the night, once you have your important tasks done, it makes it so much easier to relax and do the things that you like. Whether it’s watching Netflix, doing skin care, or just laying in bed on TikTok, you’re going to enjoy it so much more once your week is prepped. So grab your favorite snack, put on your favorite show, and relax, your week is ready to start!
