10. Richie Finn
Richie Finn has just been named Captain for the Cortland Red Dragons. Richie is the definition of a captain and has proved it day in and day out. You will never catch Richie Finn slacking off. Richie is an absolute beast on the field at the face off X, in the weight room throwing up serious weight, and off the field where he is an outstanding student. Expect a lot from Richie Finn this year.
9. Travis Mohringer
The senior from Ward Melville is the only individual on this list that will be hear for his fourth consecutive senior. After his first two years learning from some great defenders, Travis stepped into the spotlight and really took control of the defense. Travis has also been named captain and will take this Cortland defense to glory.
8. Caden Yancey
Caden will be the only starting attackmen returning for the Red Dragons. Caden acts as the quarterback of this attack line and the offense as a whole. Caden is an amazing shooter with his IQ of lacrosse, expect Yancey to be at the top of the scoring list for the SUNYAC leaderboard this year.
7. Dino Bowen
Dino Bowen is returning back to campus as a sophomore and is ready to create havoc like he did last year. The starting defenseman last year really stepped up in the spotlight and proved he will create a name for himself in the Cortland Lacrosse legacy.
6. Ryan Gallagher
With the departure of Justin Wainwright, Ryan Gallagher has stepped up to the plate for the starting Long Stick Midfield position. Ryan competed in 17 games picking up 17 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers. Ryan has a very unique playstyle and will cause trouble for opposing teams this spring.
5. Alex Thrasher
Short Stick Defensive Midfield is a position that never gets the attention that is needed. Alex Thrasher was the number one d-mid on the Red Dragon Defense. Alex picked up 30 ground balls and caused 7 turnovers. Teams that have faced us know not to go against him because he will win every time.
4. Ryan Smith
During his first season for the Red Dragons, after transferring from Hofstra, Ryan Smith has been a very productive midfielder. When it comes to Ryan Smith, you could definitely use the term “Speed Kills”. His super speed paired with his effective shooting percentage of 41%, will lead him to yet another impressive season for this team.
3. Travis Wagner
Ever since his transfer from Lemoyne, Travis has been the backbone of this Cortland Lacrosse team. The goalie from Rochester has been named SUNAY player of the week countless times and has taken care of business in net with a 58% save percentage over the past two years.
2. Ryan Scanlon
Ryan Scanlon has been a known asset for this Cortland Red Dragon team for the past two years. Having a combined 22 goals and 20 assists over the past two years, he has been nothing short of perfect. Being paired with Klay Stuver and Ryan Smith this year, teams all around the country better start putting together a game plan to hopefully stop them.
1. Klay Stuver
Klay Stuver, the Junior from Fairport, has been nothing but spectacular for the Red Dragons. Klay Stuver is the sharpshooter for the Red Dragons middie line, last year netting 29 goals along with 7 assists against some of the best goalies at the division 3 level. Stuver’s ability to find the net in the face of such stiff competition is nothing short of legendary, leaving fans and opponents alike in awe of his prowess on the field.
